KELOID #1 - REVEAL

 

REVEAL is stage one of the KELOID project and involves working directly with images of my family from the early 19th century. Originally from Scotland and Ireland, my ancestors were early colonisers. In 1983 I met and later married Indigenous artist and activist the late Les Griggs. Les was one of the Stolen Generation, a government policy of forced removal of Aboriginal children from their families that was conducted until the early 1970’s. Through my relationship with him, I began to understand the full impact of colonisation in Australia. 

 

This work was shown as a part of the exhibtion Knots Linkages and Graftings at the Smorgen Gallery in Footscray in 2014 for the 40th anniversay of the Footscray Community Arts Centre
